Tell us where you will be each day. Before you set off we send the forecast at each of your stops for the time you get there, the road conditions and trouble spots on that day’s drive, wind on the passes you cross, when it gets dark, and the aurora outlook where you sleep.
Between briefs, an alert when an F-road on your route opens or closes, or a weather warning is issued for the region you are in that day. Nothing about the rest of the country.

Questions
Do I need an account or an app?
No. You pay, and the confirmation email holds a link: that link is the pass. Open it to add your days, change your dates, pause or cancel. Nothing to install, no password. If you lose the email, the box at the bottom of this page sends the link again to the address you bought with.
How do I add my route?
Open your trip link and, for each day, type the towns and sights in the order you will reach them. As you type, we suggest every place we can route to (7 ready-made plans such as the Ring Road, the South Coast and the Golden Circle can fill your days in one click). We work out the drive between stops, the F-roads on it and the regions you are in, and that decides what you are told about. You can also add any F-road by number.
What arrives, and when?
One brief at 06:30 Iceland time on each day you have planned: the forecast at every stop at the time you arrive there, the road surface and any trouble spots along that day's drive, wind on the passes you cross, sunset and darkness, and the aurora outlook where you sleep. Between briefs, an email when an F-road on your route opens, closes, becomes impassable or drops to 4x4-only, when the Met Office issues an orange or red warning for a region you are in that day, and when a road-weather station in that region reports a wind alert. Road data is checked every 15 minutes.
What if my plans change?
Before the first brief has gone out you can move the whole trip up to 14 days either side of the dates you bought; the length stays the same. Once the trip has started it can move forward, by up to 3 days in total. Your stops move with the dates. You can pause and resume any time, and cancel for good. All of it from the same link, no email to us needed.
Which roads and regions do you watch?
The roads between your stops on each day, found by the same routing engine as the route planner on this site, plus any F-road you add by number. Weather warnings and wind alerts are scoped to the regions your stops are in on that day: nothing about the Westfjords while you are in the East. A stop we cannot place gets no region, and the builder tells you so next to it.
Is it a subscription?
No. One payment for one trip: €12 for up to 7 days, €18 for 8 to 14 days, tax included. The checkout shows the price in your own currency before you pay. For a trip longer than 14 days, buy a second pass for the rest once the first is set up.
What stays free?
Everything else on Iceland Roads: the live map, every road-condition, forecast, F-road and aurora page, the route planner, and the free email alerts for F-road openings and red weather warnings. The pass is for people who would rather be told, for their own route, than check.
Where does the information come from?
The same official sources as the rest of the site: Vegagerðin (the Icelandic Road Administration) for road conditions and road-weather stations, the Icelandic Met Office for warnings, Open-Meteo for stop forecasts, and NOAA for the aurora. Every brief names the time each source was observed. It is a summary to help you plan, not a substitute for checking road.is and vedur.is before a difficult drive.
