Vegagerðin's own road-desk bulletins (in English) - roadwork, weight limits, and regional notes not always reflected in the structured alerts above.
Slippery conditions are on Fjarðarheiði (93), but spots of ice are on Fagridalur (1), Öxi (939) and Mjóafjarðarvegur (953).
The information phone 1777 (+354 522 1100), is open every day between 06:30 and 22:00.
The speed limit has been reduced to 50 km/h on a short stretch of Grindavíkurvegur (43) until November 5, while work is carried out near the road area.
Slippery conditions are on Holtavörðuheiði (1) and Brattabrekka (60), but spots of ice are on Laxárdalsheiði (59).
Due to road work by the bridge over the Gljúfurá river on the Ring Road (1) in Borgarfjörður, traffic delays can be expected there until 31 October. The speed limit will be restricted to 30 km/h along the work area and traffic will be controlled by traffic lights. Please show patients, respect the signs and drive with caution.
Spots of ice are on Steingrímsfjarðarheiði (61), Þröskuldar (61), Dynjandisheiði (60) and Hálfán (63).
Slippery conditions are on Vatnsskarð (1) and Þverárfjall (73). Spots of ice are on Öxnadalsheiði (1), Víkurskarð (84) and on the Ring Road (1) in the area.
Spots of ice are on Mývatnsöræfi and on Möðrudalsöræfi (1). Very difficult snow conditions are on Hellisheiði eystri (917).
Bárðardalsvegur vestri (842) will be closed to December 1, from the Ring Road (1) to Bárðardalsvegur eystri (844) at the bridge over Skjálfandafljót. Traffic travelling via Sprengisandsleið will therefore be directed along Bárðardalsvegur eystri (844) at Fosshóll.
The bridge over Skjálfandafljót (85) is open to smaller cars but is still closed to vehicles weighing more than 3,5 t. including buses that carry more than 8 passengers. Detour via the Hringvegur (1) and Aðaldalsvegur (845).
Traffic delays can be expected at the Óseyrarbrú bridge on Eyrarbakkavegur (34) due to guardrail repairs. Traffic control is in place at the site. The work is scheduled for completion on October 31, 2026.
There is no winter service on highland roads, and most of them have become impassable or their condition is unknown.

Understanding alerts
Urgent: road closed or impassable. road.is and 1777 have the current position. Warning: hazardous conditions on the road. Advisory: be aware of changing conditions. Dashed, faded cards haven’t been refreshed by Vegagerðin in over 48 hours and may no longer be accurate.
A “Near X (~N km)” card is a single reported closure point (a bridge, tunnel, or short stretch) with no road number attached in Vegagerðin’s data - not the whole surrounding area. “Rd” cards with a road number are the ones that cover a real stretch of that specific road.
“Show on map” appears only where Vegagerðin supplies a real location for the alert. Weather warnings cover forecast areas rather than a point, and some bulletins name no place at all, so those have no map link rather than a guessed one.
