On Sunday, September 13, traffic delays can be expected due to sheep herding between Landmannalaugar and Tjörvafell during the first half of the day, and on Landmannaleið (F225) from Tjörvafell to Helliskvísl in the afternoon.
Traffic delays can be expected on Landvegur at the junction with the Ring Road 1 until October 13 due to roadworks. Traffic lanes will be narrowed, please show consideration.
Paving work scheduled to take place at Jökulsárlón on Breiðamerkursandur has been postponed due to a poor weather forecast. The work will be announced later.
Work is underway to improve the bridge on Skriðdals- og Breiðdalsvegur (95). The speed limit in the work area has been reduced to 30 km/h, and traffic will be controlled by traffic lights. Please drive carefully and follow the signs in the area.
The bridge over Skjálfandafljót (85) is open to smaller cars but is still closed to vehicles weighing more than 3,5 t. including buses that carry more than 8 passengers. Detour via the Hringvegur (1) and Aðaldalsvegur (845).
Due to work on the road today and the next few days, the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/h. Please respect the signs and drive carefully.
Please show caution as there is pavement damage to the road and a considerable amount of water damage on the edges of the road. Speed has been reduced to 50 km/h.
Due to road work by the bridge over the Gljúfurá river on the Ring Road (1) in Borgarfjörður, traffic delays can be expected there until 31 October. The speed limit will be restricted to 30 km/h along the work area and traffic will be controlled by traffic lights. Please show patients, respect the signs and drive with caution.
Maintenance work is being carried out in the Hvalfjörður Tunnel (1) between 23:00 and 06:30 on the nights of Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16. Traffic will be directed through the tunnel, but traffic delays are expected.
On September 15th work on the intersection of Nýbýlavegur and Ástún will begin. Traffic delays and lane closures are expected as the project progresses. Detours will be marked on site. Completion is scheduled for mid-January 2027.
Until September 20th, from Monday to Friday, between 22:00 and 06:00 and from Saturday to Sunday from 22:00 and 07:00 there will be road work on Hafnarfjarðarvegur under the bridge at Hamraborg. Traffic beneath Hamraborg/Kópavogsgjá will be restricted to one direction at a time, with a bypass via Hamraborg. Work will not take place every day, as the project is weather dependent.
The right turn at the northwestern corner of the Miklabraut/Grensásvegur intersection has been temporarily closed due to road work. The closure is expected to last to September 14th.
Repairs and other road work are taking place around the country. Where there is loose gravel, slow down speed and keep at least 50-meter distance to the car in front. Please drive with care and respect speed limits.

A “Near X (~N km)” card is a single reported closure point (a bridge, tunnel, or short stretch) with no road number attached in Vegagerðin’s data - not the whole surrounding area. “Rd” cards with a road number are the ones that cover a real stretch of that specific road.
